LVT mainly comprises the substrate, print, and wear-resistant layers.

The SPC floor also belongs to the PVC floor, so the type and composition of its main raw materials are the same as the LVT floor. Their difference is that the SPC floor does not add any plasticizer. In addition, lubricants are added to the SPC floor substrate during the production to achieve a smooth extrusion. SPC and LVT flooring have a variety of styles, including wood grain and ceramic tile.
Main Differences Between SPC and LVT Floors
1. Structure
The most significant difference between the SPC and LVT floor is that the substrate of the LVT floor needs to add DOTP compared with SPC. LVT floors have a simple PVC core which makes them flexible and soft. On the other hand, SPC floors have a core made of stone-plastic composite, giving them a rigid structure and an uncompromising quality.
2. Thickness
In general, SPC floors are thicker than standard LVT floors. SPC vinyl floors are typically between 4mm and 6mm, while traditional LVT is 4mm or less.
3. Sturdiness
Sturdiness is another significant difference caused by the core structure. When you stand on the LVT floor, your feet feel relatively less firm. In contrast, SPC floors provide a solid feeling when standing on them. In addition, it's tough enough for SPC floors to avoid dents and scuffs.
4. Appearance
Even though the digital imaging has been improved across the board, each plank still looks and feels very different. For example, SPC floors have a more realistic look and a denser texture.
5. Installation
The installation of LVT floors requires glue down, loose lay, or click lock, while the installation of SPC floors is simple and fast without any glue. You just need to put the slots of the boards facing each other and push them in diagonally.
6. Dent Resistant
The heavy furniture easily dents LVT floors, because they are soft and pliable. On the other hand, the SPC floors are more resilient regarding dents and crushes. For this reason, the SPC floor is an excellent choice for a business environment.
7. Price
SPC floors are one of the more affordable options with a rigid core, but it is still generally more expensive than LVT floors.
